Common questions

How does Iron Streak build my plan?

When you sign up, choose Quick start (about a minute: your goal, experience, training days, session length and equipment) or the full survey (about 3 minutes, which also sets your calorie and macro targets). Iron Streak builds a weekly plan from your answers, using only the equipment you have. After a quick start, Finish setting up on Home asks the rest whenever you're ready.

To change it later, open Your plan. It shows this week's workouts at the top. From there you can change your training days, retake the survey, shuffle your lifts, or build your own plan.

How do I log a workout?

Tap Start workout on Home. For each lift, the weight and reps start at your target: adjust them with − and + if you need to (and tap your reps in reserve, if you track it), then tap Log set, and Finish when the lift is done. When your last lift's sets are in, Finish workout wraps up the day. Your heaviest set counts as your top set. Opening the next lift finishes the one you were on, and a lift left with sets logged is finished for you at the end of the day. Band and bodyweight moves only need reps.

Each lift shows your top-set target: the weight and reps to aim for on your heaviest set, worked out from last time. Logging your reps in reserve fine-tunes it: with reps to spare the weight goes up sooner, and with nothing left it holds.

Done early? End workout at the bottom of My Lift marks the lifts you didn't get to as skipped.

Can I log sets from the Lock Screen?

Yes, in the iPhone app. Once you've logged your first set (or started your workout with Siri), the workout shows on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island: the set you're on with its target and a Log set button, then your rest countdown with +15 s and Skip rest. Sets you log there go in at their target weight and reps, and show up in the app the next time you open it, where you can tap one to change it. It goes away when the workout's done.

Not seeing it? Turn on Live Activities for Iron Streak in Settings → Iron Streak.

What can I ask Siri?

In the iPhone app, say Start my workout in Iron Streak to open today's workout, What's my streak in Iron Streak to hear your streak without opening the app, or Log a meal photo in Iron Streak. You'll also find them in the Shortcuts app, where you can add them to your own shortcuts.

With iOS 18 you can add a Start workout control to Control Center, or set it as your Action button's control in Settings → Action Button → Controls. The Streak & today widget has Start workout and Log set buttons too.

Does Iron Streak work on Apple Watch?

Yes. With the iPhone app installed, Iron Streak is on your Apple Watch too (if it isn't, open the Watch app on your iPhone and install it from there). It shows today's lifts: tap one, turn the Digital Crown to set the weight or reps (tap a box to switch between them) and tap Log set. The set is logged on your iPhone, and a rest ring counts down and taps your wrist when it's time for the next set.

Start a workout on the watch to see your heart rate; it's saved to Apple Health when you end it. To see your streak on a watch face, touch and hold the face, tap Edit and pick Iron Streak for a complication.

The watch gets today's workout from the iPhone app, so open Iron Streak on your iPhone once after setting it up.

Can I add an exercise that isn't in the app?

Yes. Search for it in Plan → All lifts, Add lifts or Swap, and when nothing matches, tap Create. Pick the main muscle it works, its equipment and how it's logged (weight × reps, bodyweight, or time), and it works like any other lift: targets, charts, PRs and sets per muscle. Lifts from a Strong or Hevy import that the app doesn't have come in this way too.

Tap a lift's name to open its page, where you can change or delete your own exercises. Deleting one you've logged keeps its history. Your own exercises stay on your account: plans you share in Community leave them out.

How does my workout streak work?

Your workout streak counts the scheduled workouts you finish in a row, so the number is workouts, not calendar days. A workout counts once every lift in it is logged or skipped, with at least half of them logged. A workout with fewer than half logged keeps your streak going but doesn't add to it. Lifts you didn't get to count as skipped once the day is over, so a workout you mostly finished still counts. Rest days are skipped: they never break your streak or add to it. A workout you add to a rest day (like the weekly challenge) is a bonus: finish it and it adds one, skip it and nothing changes. A scheduled workout with nothing logged by the end of its day resets it.

Can't train on a scheduled day? Use Move it to a rest day on Home, or Options → Move to a rest day on that day's workout in My Lift, to move it to an upcoming rest day. The workout then counts on the day you moved it to, so your streak stays safe if you finish it there.

Away or sick for a while? Turn on Profile → Vacation mode and pick the dates. Your streak is paused: missed workouts in that time won't break it, and any you still finish add to it. You can end a break early or remove one that hasn't started.

Missed a workout you did but forgot to log, or were sick? Within a week, Home offers to log it or to pause those days, and your streak comes back.

What's in Iron Streak Pro?

Iron Streak is free: your plan, logging and targets, a chart of every lift, your streak, this week's challenge and your medals, food logging, weight, the Feed and community plans. Pro is optional, on top: a monthly or yearly subscription (or, when it's offered, Lifetime: one payment for good), bought in the iPhone app. It adds the AI Trainer every day (8 messages a day instead of 3 a week, plus form checks; free accounts get extra messages in their first week and a free form check to try), Photo log (10 a day; free accounts get 1 a day), estimated maxes, PR history and the stalled-lift check, sets per muscle, a calorie target built on what you really burn (everyone sees the weekly burn estimate on Mondays), training and rest day calories, charts of your body measurements, comparing progress photos, past weekly challenges, every theme color with its app icon, and a Pro badge on your Feed profile.

Tap any Pro feature, or Profile → Get Iron Streak Pro, to see the plans. Pro works on the website too, with the same account. Cancel any time in your iPhone's Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Got an offer code? Tap Profile → Redeem a code to enter it in the App Store's own sheet.

How do invites and free months of Pro work?

Your invite link is in Profile → Invite friends, get Pro and in Share profile, where it's also a QR code. Whoever joins Iron Streak with it is your friend right away (the first 10 people within 30 days of the link; after that it sends you a friend request). A friend who got the app another way can type your invite code, or your username, under “Joining a friend?” when their plan is ready.

When a friend who's new to Iron Streak has finished 2 workouts, you each get a one-time App Store code for a free month of Pro, up to 3 a year. Tap Redeem on the Invite friends page (it opens the App Store with the code filled in), or enter it in the App Store app under your picture → Redeem Gift Card or Code. Codes are redeemed on iPhone. After the free month, Pro renews at the normal price unless you cancel in Settings → your name → Subscriptions; if you already have Pro, the free month starts at your next renewal. “Your code is on its way” means you've earned one and it will show there soon.

How do friends compete, and who sees my workouts?

On the Feed, This week with friends ranks you and your friends by workouts since Monday, then sets. A buddy streak counts the weeks in a row you and a friend both did every workout on your plans; a week either of you is away or has nothing planned doesn't break it. After 5 PM you can nudge a friend who has a workout today and hasn't trained yet, once a day. Each lift's page shows where your best set ranks among friends who logged it. Friends can get a notification when your bot posts a PR or a medal.

Only friends who compete see any of that. Feed options → Privacy → Compete with friends takes you out of it, and Feed options → Notifications turns nudges and friends' PRs off. With fewer than 3 friends, the Feed also shows Everyone on Iron Streak: workouts and streaks from people who chose to show them, and the newest plans. Yours show there only if you turn on Show my workouts to everyone or Show my streak on Top streaks, and never if you're under 18.

How do I find friends from my contacts? Are my contacts uploaded?

In the iPhone and Android apps, go to your Feed profile → Friends → Find friends from your contacts. Your contacts aren't uploaded: the app makes a short code from each email and phone number on your phone, sends only the start of each code, and matches the rest on your phone. Names never leave your phone, and nothing is kept. You'll see the people who turned on being found, with Add friend (and Follow for public accounts).

To let people who have your email or number find you, turn on Feed options → Privacy → Let people who have my email or number find me, and add your number if you like. It's off unless you turn it on, and isn't available to people under 18.

Why does my profile say Member, or my new photo not show?

When three people report a profile, it shows as “Member”, without its name, username or photo, until a moderator looks at it, usually within a day. You can't change it meanwhile; if it's fine, it comes back as it was. Community plans, posts and comments that three people report are hidden the same way.

A new profile photo is checked before others see it, usually in a few seconds. If the check isn't sure, it waits for a moderator, and others see your old photo until then. A photo that breaks the community rules isn't used, and you can pick another one any time.

Where are my settings?

In Profile: tap your picture at the top of Home, My Lift, Nutrition or Plan, or the gear on your Feed profile. The shortcuts at the top jump to each part: About you, Training (your progress, every lift, your equipment, vacation mode, logging and the rest timer), App (theme color, appearance, weight units), Reminders, Your data, Help and Account.

Can I use kilograms instead of pounds?

Yes. Go to Profile → Weight units. Every weight you've logged converts automatically, so switching back and forth never changes your numbers.

How does the AI Trainer work?

Open it from AI Trainer on Home, or from Ask the AI Trainer on a workout, a lift's history, Nutrition or the Weight page to ask about that. It answers questions about training, recovery and nutrition using your own plan, workouts and food logs. It can also suggest changes to any upcoming day, just that one session or every workout of that type (like every Push Day).

Nothing changes until you tap Save change on its suggestion. The first time, the app asks before it shares anything with the AI (Claude, by Anthropic); you can turn that off in Profile → Your data. Free accounts get 10 messages in their first week, then 3 a week, with 3 more every Monday. With Iron Streak Pro you get 8 a day, resetting at midnight in your time zone, and form checks from a video. (Your time zone for this is the one your account first used it in; it follows you when you travel, once a day.) If it says it's busy, try again later: on a very busy day the AI features pause until midnight UTC.

Each week, from Monday morning to Wednesday, it also offers a weekly check-in: a short look at last week and one thing to focus on, which doesn't use your messages. Ask it what to eat and you get a few options you can log in one tap. A form check reviews 16 still frames from the one rep you pick; your form checks stay on your phone, where you can compare two of the same lift side by side.

How do I log food?

In Nutrition, use the buttons above your meals: Photo (1 free a day; up to 10 a day with Iron Streak Pro), Scan a barcode, Describe what you ate in your own words, or Quick add just the calories. Or tap Search foods to log, or Add food under a meal, to search foods or create a custom food. A search looks through your own foods, the built-in list, USDA FoodData Central, FatSecret and Open Food Facts at once, and shows the best matches in one list, each marked with where it came from. Tap a food to pick its serving size (a cup, an ounce, a piece) or enter grams, or tap its + to log it right away, as much as last time; Add food stays open until you tap Done, so a whole meal takes a few taps. Your calorie and macro targets are set from your profile and goal, and you can set your own in Goals.

A barcode isn't found. What can I do?

Iron Streak looks barcodes up in FatSecret, USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts. If none of them has the product, tap Snap the label: take a photo of the package's nutrition label and the AI reads it into a food for you to check and save. It's saved to Your foods with its barcode, so scanning it again brings it straight up. Products you've scanned before come up at once on that phone, even offline.

How do community plans work?

Community plans are lifting plans shared by people on Iron Streak. Find them in the Feed under Community lifts, or tap See all. Fits you puts the plans closest to your training days, equipment, session length and goal first, Trending shows what people are starting and rating lately, and Days, Equipment and Length filter them. A plan's page shows its week (or weeks), its rating and reviews, and how many people use it.

Start a free plan straight away with Use this plan. A paid plan shows every lift, set and rep once you buy it, and it's yours to use any time; before you buy, its first training day is free to see and try (Try it free). Using a plan makes it your plan from today, and Undo brings your old one back. A plan of several weeks runs them in turn, the next one each Monday, and the Plan tab says which week you're on.

Once you've started or bought a plan, rate it and write a review on its page. Edit or delete your review from its ⋯ menu, or report someone else's there.

How do I get a refund for a plan I bought?

Within 14 days of buying, open the plan (it's under Feed → Community lifts → See all → Yours) and tap Ask for a refund, or pick it from the plan's ⋯ menu. Choose what's wrong and add a note if you like.

The plan's creator gets your request and has 7 days to answer. If they don't, it's refunded automatically. Refunds go back to the card you paid with and can take 5 to 10 days to show.

If the creator declines and you think the plan isn't what it promised (for example, it's empty or copied), email us with the plan's name and we'll look into it. The full policy is in our Terms of Service.

How do I sell my plans?

In the Plan tab, tap Share a plan with the community, pick the week (or build 2 to 12 weeks) and set a price. To charge for a plan, set up payouts with Stripe first: Stripe checks who you are and pays your share into your bank. You keep 85% of each sale, less Stripe's card fee. A paid plan's first training day is shown free, so people can try it before they buy.

Add a short bio and your Instagram or TikTok in Plan tab → Your creator profile, and share your creator link (Share your creator link, or Share on your own plan) anywhere you post: sales that come through it are marked as yours. Your plan's page shows its views, how many people started it and its sales. More for creators at ironstreakapp.com/creators.

When a buyer asks for a refund, it shows on the plan's page and in the Plan tab (and as a notification, if you've turned them on). Refund it or decline it there within 7 days: requests left unanswered are refunded automatically. See Selling plans in our Terms of Service.

Who sees my posts? What's a public account?

Your friends see your posts. To share with more people, turn on Public account on your Feed profile (tap Profile at the top of the Feed): anyone on Iron Streak can then see your profile and posts and follow you, without a friend request, and your posts show in their Feed. Friends stay as they are. Turn it off any time to go back to friends only. Accounts for people under 18 can't be public.

To follow a public account, tap Follow on its profile; tap Following to stop. You start out following @ironstreak, Iron Streak's own account, and can unfollow it too. Your followers and who you follow are on your Feed profile, where you can remove a follower. Blocking someone ends any follow between you.

Can I do a friend's workout?

Yes. Under a friend's workout recap in the Feed, tap Do this workout and pick today or another day this week. Your own weights and targets are used, in your units, and a lift your equipment can't do (or that loads an area you go easy on) is swapped for the closest one you can. It replaces that day's workout only (never one you've started), and Undo takes it back.

I'm not getting reminders.

Turn on workout and calorie reminders in Profile → Reminders in the iPhone app. If they still don't arrive, open the iPhone Settings app, go to Notifications → Iron Streak, and make sure notifications are allowed.

The barcode scanner, photo log or camera won't open.

They need access to your camera (and to film a video with sound, the microphone). Open the iPhone Settings app, find Iron Streak, and allow Camera and Microphone access, then try again. Without the camera, Photo log can still use a photo from your library, and a barcode can be typed in.

How do video subtitles work?

In the video editor, tap Subtitles. In the iPhone app, Make automatically listens to what's said in the video and your voiceover and writes the lines for you to check. It's done by Apple's speech recognition on your iPhone itself: the sound isn't sent anywhere. If it says speech recognition isn't allowed, open the iPhone Settings app, find Iron Streak, and allow Speech Recognition. If your iPhone can't recognize your language on the device, type the lines in with Add a line instead (that works on the website too).

Anyone watching can turn subtitles off or on with CC on the video, or in Feed options.

How do I use Iron Streak on another device?

Your plan, logs and settings are saved to your account. Sign in on the other device the same way you signed up (Apple, Google or email) and everything will be there. You can use both: what you log on one shows up on the other, and the app combines changes made on both rather than one replacing the other. Pull down on a screen to refresh it. Progress photos stay on the phone they were taken on unless you turn on Back up to your account under the Weight page's progress photos: then a new phone gets them back.

Some of my workouts or meals are gone. Can you get them back?

Usually, yes. Your app data is backed up every day it changes, and we keep 30 days of backups, so we can put your account back as it was on any of those days. Email us from the address you signed up with (or tell us your username) and the day it was last right. Anything you logged after that day would need logging again. Once it's done, close Iron Streak and open it again to see it.

I forgot my password.

On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password? and enter your account's email. We'll email you a link that opens a page where you choose a new password; it then works in the app and on the website. If you signed up with Apple or Google, there's no password: sign in with that button instead.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Profile → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and all of its data, including workouts, food logs, weight entries and settings. It can't be undone.
